Infant found in Washington

Infant Baby Found dead in Washing Machine

It Happened November 10th 2100. It was a tragic story. There was a infant baby who was found dead in the washing machine. The mother of the child said that she was just playing around and did not know that her baby was actually going to be found dead in the washing machine. This article was tragic to me as well because who would really throw there child in the washing machine even if you just was playing with them, i mean like come on now that is so wrong. Also the mother of the infant that was thrown in the washer, it says that when the mother had did it she was on many drug uses, so maybe it was done by a accident. I say that there is no way that it was done by a accident because no matter what even if you are on drugs you should have the common sense on not to throw your child in the washing machine. This has been going on every where as well, because even in philadelphia there has been people who has been stuffing there children in the washing machine.

This I Belive

Opal Ruth Prater was a happy married woman and loved her husband so much. Opal and her husband Dusty spent most of their times together farming. Sadly Dusty died from a heart condition at the age of 41. Opal was now so lonely. Days after days she would go to the back of the yard and bury her face into his shirt and cry. Opal said that "my 4 children is the only reason I grew the strength to go on." Opal believed that as long as she is alive her husband's memory will always live in her, no matter if he's not there anymore to laugh with her, read to her while cooking supper, or even to rub her back on till she fell asleep at night, she will never forget him. Opal believes that love is stronger than death.
I agree with Opal that love is stronger than death because no matter how bad that person died you will always have that one special place in your heart just right for them. That love lives in the children, the grandchildren, the uncles the aunts and a lot more people who will always and still remember him/her no matter what might come in the way. For example when my close cousin died I was very devastated, I cried for days but love is what helped me made it through because I realized that he had a special place in my heart that I would never forget.

The NBA

The NBA season is looking real good. The NBA is very competitive  now here in the playoffs. In my opinion for the team who will win the finals is the team that comes out the western finals. OKC and the Spurs will be going at it and it will be a great series. The sixers have forced the a game 7 and has a chance to advance. I want the sixers to win, but it's highly unlikely. The heats are still in a nick and tuff battle against the Pacers. So far the Spurs have gone 8-0 in the playoffs and OKC is 7-1. But in the end the better team will prevail and win it all, and I think it'll be the Spurs.

Before the playoffs not alot of people, including me, knew about the Spurs being a good team. The NBA is a tough series. NBA.com

Broadcasting a World of Whiteness

This week in Journalism class we read an article called 'Broadcasting a World of Whiteness' by Jon Carmanica. This article is about television not being as diverse as it should. This article explains that a new show 'Girls', which is supposed to be about 4 girls who try to make it in life, but there's just one little problem. All the female characters are white. The characters being white has caused a lot of controversy. People have mentioned that they would watch the show, but it's not diverse enough. Many even call this an act of racism.  The show is called "Girls", but doesn't have any other races, but white.

One of the characters got a message that said the show wasn't diverse enough. She said that she also thinks that and if there is a season two than she will for sure bring it up, and address it. I do believe that television isn't anywhere near diverse enough. A lot of shows that are out aren't nearly diverse enough.

Gun Fashion

This article is about the new and improved way of hiding your gun in your clothing. For decades people have been trying to find new ways to hide their weapons in their clothing. Companies are beginning to make clothing just so people can hide weapons, such as knifes and hand held guns. A company called Woolrich is a big contributer to the new style of clothing. Woolrich specifically designs their clothing for people to hide things like knifes, flashlights, and guns. In fact sometime this fall they'll be introducing a vest with a stealth compartment in front that looks as if you are warming your hands but actually gripping a pistol in a waistband holster.

The idea of a vest with a gun compartment is broad and a good tool far making money. If everyone is afraid that everyone else has a gun then household robberies, and muggings will stop or at least decrease rapidly. But there is the chance that a little kid or todler could get their hands on a gun or knife. I can guarantee you that it won't end very well.

Healh Fair

Abortion is the number one murderer in America of all people, but it effects Blacks the most. It's safe to say that abortions should be illegal. Nobody thinks about it . Everyone thinks as if everything is all cool, but abortion is a huge problem that needs to be solved. In my opinion abortion is murder. There are at least 1.2 million abortions a year.  A big portion of these abortions are coming from teens. That's because teens are more sexually active. That's kind of unusual and weird. Abortions cause emotional and mental problems to the girl that's getting the abortion. Abortion doesn't give a baby the chance to live or even know or see it's mother.

The health fair was basically about taking care of yourself and worrying about the amount of teens that are pregnant. Shaira, who is a senior here at parkway, did a presentation. Her presentation was on abortion an how she was against it. At the health fair they passed out condoms to everyone who wanted them. Personally I don't think the condoms will change anything. The condoms were just a show, but as long as teens are having sex than there is no way to stop pregnancies or even abortions for that matter.

Treyvon Martin

There has been a recent incident that has effected the nation. A teen by the name of Treyvon Martin who was shot down for no reason. Well technically according to George Zimmerman it wasn't for no reason. According to Zimmerman, Trayvon was a threat and was looking into houses on the block. But on the defense of Trayvon, his father claims Trayvon just went to the store to get his little brother some candy. The fact that Trayvon had on a hoody made him a threat. But you do have to think about it. Whenever a black man is about to rob someone or commit a crime don't we wear hoodies so no one would see our faces.

That's something to think about. Choose who's side your on, Zimmerman's or Trayvon's. What you like doesn't matter it's doing the right thing. What about all the other young teens who have been killed. Does anyone care for them, do they get justice. I hate it when everyone wants to all get together for someone they don't even know, but when your neighbor who you see every day dies nobody feels even sorry for him. Technically Zimmerman didn't do anything wrong. He should be locked up, but in the state of Florida what Zimmerman did was not illegal, it's not a crime. I got all my information from CNN.

I'm a crimanal

Here what I don't understand. Why when criminals come out of jail they can't really get a decent job or even a decent lifestyle. But if you think about it than you'll understand that you yourself and everyone around you are criminals. I myself am also a criminal. Everyone or mostly everyone in the world has stolen something like candy, a toy, or even a book when they were little kids. Just because a crime is small doesn't make your opportunities in life different from that of a man that went to jail for selling dope or even kidnapping someone.

I can admit that there are certain crimes that do deserve some isolation like murder or attemted murder. There are also some things that someone can't take back, but you should at least give them a chance at life and allow them to get the same opportunities as one who did little as steal a piece of candy as a kid. That's basically what the article is about. The arthur is just trying to explain that everyone is a criminal and has done something that is technically illegal.

Facebook is using you

Have you ever wondered about what you write or post on facebook. Well according to 'facebook is using you' you should start caring about it. You might not notice, but when you post something like, i need my hair done or I'm hungary then ads start popping up on those topics. By doing this facebook makes alot of money of of companies who pay to put their ads up on facebook. I don't have a facebook so things like that I really don't have to worry about.

The article was just about the things you should watch out for on facebook. It tells you that facebook uses your post to advertise. That's really the only way facebook makes money. Now that I think about once my cousin was on facebook while I was over at his house he was posting that he was getting a new car. On the side of the screen was all of these car dealership ads.

Apple Takes Advantage of Workers

There was an article that came out recently on the not so good conditions for workers that work in Apple industries. There was an explosion at an Apple industry because the pipes were checked the way they were supposed to be. Many workers have complained about the working conditions in Apple factories. This article not only shows that Apple companies don't take care of their workers but also other companies as well.

The article explained that big money making companies aren't always as great as they seem to be because of how the treat their employers.

Babies born to unmarried women under 30

In this article the writer talked about the uprising of women under 30 giving birth outside of marriage. This articl explains why this is going on and states some of the reasons why  it's going on. This article also states that college students overwhelmingly marry before having kids. The article also states that women don't think about marrying because they believe men are to immature. Some also believe they can support their own family and that they don't need a man in their lives.

I don't really like the fact that more children are born to women who are unmarried. To me it's kind of weird that women think they don't need men to help support them. Back in my grandparents days women needed men. Any way it was a good informal article. It used to be shameful that a women didn't have a man, but nowadays things are different a women is looked at being strong and independant if they don't have a man. Back then women didn't feel safe if they weren't with a man. It's kind of human nature for a women to be with a man.

Photoshopped or not

This article is an article about how photographers change the way celebreties, and models look thinner in pictures. They take away dark spots ,pimples, and blemishes, and then lighten up their faces and thin them down to make them look more attracted.

Two student at Darthmouth are composing a way to scale how altered a picture is on a scale of 1-5.Personally I do kind of believe what the writer is saying in the article.Because honestly some celebs arenaren't so good looking. That's just my opinion. Why are people even worried about this. This particular thing isn't a huge problem since no one pays attention to pictures or the physical features or apperances of celebrities. Honestly no ones mind is really that open to things like that. The people who alter these pictures do get a lot of money. The celebrities who's pictures are getting taken are probably the one's who pay the photographer to alter the photos.

Cracking Teenagers

Parents are worried about what their children are doing online. Parents suspect that the internet is not something that their teens should be getting on. Other experts on teen behavior disagree. Some experts say that the internet and the outside world is not what parents should be so worried about. Dr. Dubri thinks that the world has gotten much better than what it was back in the day. She has studied teen behavior for years. She and other experts think that parents are worried about what their kids are doing to much. Who is she to say what parents should and shouldn't be worried. She's 34 years old and she lives her life trying to be a teen. She needs to stop trying to be 15 again when that was twenty years ago.

Tebowmania

Tebowing is a new thing that Denver Broncos fans do. It comes from their quarterback Tim Tebow who before a game kneels down on one knee and prays. This tebowing thing is getting out of hand. Students at Island Norfork Highschool were all tebowing but only four were suspended. Tebowing has is nation wide. It's only nation wide because whenever Tim Tebow does that he comes into the game and goes on to a comeback victory. Fans have seen that all season. But the biiggest upset was Tim Tebow beating Big Ben and the mighty Steelers. That game shocked everybody. When I heared that I was mad as piss. Tebowing is a seriouse thing and can start riots in school. Athletes all over sports have been tebowing. wing is a new trend. Tebowmania is going around and spreading faster than the speed of light. People are all on the Bronco banwagon because of Tebow somehow comes back and wins a game when it looks like they have no chance. He's a christian and is a suppose to be virgin when you know that has to be a lie because all these games he's somehow winning don't you think that girls are throwing themselves at him. Now people are saying that he's baby jesus and talking about john 3/16 when that has absolutely nothing to do with football. Fans are praising Tim Tebow way too much. They might as well stop because Tim Tebow is going to lose against Tom Brady and his Patriots. I'll talk to you later. HUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The biggest story of 2011

The biggest story in 2011 was the murder of Osama Bin Laden. When people found out he was killed they dancd around and partied all day and night. Obama was praised and so was navy seal team 6 who went and killed Bin Ladin. Obama said that "anyone who has a problem with the killing of a man who is responsible for the mass murder on American soil should have their head examined. That makes me wonder..... what about slavery. Doesn't that mean that we black people should get our vengance for the death of thousands of slaves. I'm just saying. The terrorist attack on  9/11 was a while ago, but from then on america and the middle east area have not gotten along to well. Now the troops will have to stay in Iraq and Iran. They say the troops are coming home but you know that's a lie. Think about it for a second. When has america ever left a country they've had war with. It cost alot of money to fund a war so they're going to stay and get that money back. Osama did have hundreds killed but you can't just go in another peoples land and kill who ever is there. Their trying to catch one man and thousands of others were killed before they even got Osama. But nobody really thinks about that. People began to think there wouldn't be any more terroist attacks, but now there's a huge problem with the oil.
