This I Belive

Opal Ruth Prater was a happy married woman and loved her husband so much. Opal and her husband Dusty spent most of their times together farming. Sadly Dusty died from a heart condition at the age of 41. Opal was now so lonely. Days after days she would go to the back of the yard and bury her face into his shirt and cry. Opal said that "my 4 children is the only reason I grew the strength to go on." Opal believed that as long as she is alive her husband's memory will always live in her, no matter if he's not there anymore to laugh with her, read to her while cooking supper, or even to rub her back on till she fell asleep at night, she will never forget him. Opal believes that love is stronger than death.
I agree with Opal that love is stronger than death because no matter how bad that person died you will always have that one special place in your heart just right for them. That love lives in the children, the grandchildren, the uncles the aunts and a lot more people who will always and still remember him/her no matter what might come in the way. For example when my close cousin died I was very devastated, I cried for days but love is what helped me made it through because I realized that he had a special place in my heart that I would never forget.

The NBA

The NBA season is looking real good. The NBA is very competitive  now here in the playoffs. In my opinion for the team who will win the finals is the team that comes out the western finals. OKC and the Spurs will be going at it and it will be a great series. The sixers have forced the a game 7 and has a chance to advance. I want the sixers to win, but it's highly unlikely. The heats are still in a nick and tuff battle against the Pacers. So far the Spurs have gone 8-0 in the playoffs and OKC is 7-1. But in the end the better team will prevail and win it all, and I think it'll be the Spurs.

Before the playoffs not alot of people, including me, knew about the Spurs being a good team. The NBA is a tough series. NBA.com

Broadcasting a World of Whiteness

This week in Journalism class we read an article called 'Broadcasting a World of Whiteness' by Jon Carmanica. This article is about television not being as diverse as it should. This article explains that a new show 'Girls', which is supposed to be about 4 girls who try to make it in life, but there's just one little problem. All the female characters are white. The characters being white has caused a lot of controversy. People have mentioned that they would watch the show, but it's not diverse enough. Many even call this an act of racism.  The show is called "Girls", but doesn't have any other races, but white.

One of the characters got a message that said the show wasn't diverse enough. She said that she also thinks that and if there is a season two than she will for sure bring it up, and address it. I do believe that television isn't anywhere near diverse enough. A lot of shows that are out aren't nearly diverse enough.

Gun Fashion

This article is about the new and improved way of hiding your gun in your clothing. For decades people have been trying to find new ways to hide their weapons in their clothing. Companies are beginning to make clothing just so people can hide weapons, such as knifes and hand held guns. A company called Woolrich is a big contributer to the new style of clothing. Woolrich specifically designs their clothing for people to hide things like knifes, flashlights, and guns. In fact sometime this fall they'll be introducing a vest with a stealth compartment in front that looks as if you are warming your hands but actually gripping a pistol in a waistband holster.

The idea of a vest with a gun compartment is broad and a good tool far making money. If everyone is afraid that everyone else has a gun then household robberies, and muggings will stop or at least decrease rapidly. But there is the chance that a little kid or todler could get their hands on a gun or knife. I can guarantee you that it won't end very well.
